12 Talks You Won't Find Anywhere Else this Weekend

Hey Reader,

I want to point you toward something specific about the Unschooling Summit coming this weekend.

Of the 90 speakers participating, 12 speakers are addressing neurodiversity.
And what makes this unlike anything else out there — these speakers all come with an unschooling perspective.

No adapting to school scenarios. No generic advice about accommodations and interventions designed for a classroom environment.

These are neurodivergent advocates — most of them unschooling parents themselves — speaking to the reality of raising kids outside of school.

And before you click away because your kid doesn't have a diagnosis — stay with me for a second.

Every single one of us has been there. The frustration that comes out of nowhere. The escalation you don't know how to meet. The moment where you're doing everything right and it's still going sideways and you have no idea what to try next.

These speakers live and work in that arena every day.
They have tools — real, practical tools — that work for kids across the board. Not just the ones with a label.

There's something in here for all of us.

Here's who I'd carve out time for:

Friday Kristy Forbes — Why Compliance Isn't the Goal With Your Neurodivergent Child

Saturday Amanda Diekman (LowDemandAmanda)— Letting Go of Perfectionism
Em Hammond (NeuroWild) — Helping Children Build Their Capacity
Meghan Suniga Davies — Out in the World with Neurodivergent Teens
→ Live Roundtable — Neurodivergent Families with Amanda Diekman, Elspeth Hetrick, and Zakiyya Ismail

Sunday Dr. Naomi Fisher — When to Encourage Your Unschooler, When to Hold Back
Eliza Fricker — Self Directed Learning and Your PDAer
Melissa Crockett-Joyoue — Building Nervous System Capacity for Unschooling Parents
→ Live Roundtable — Taking Care of Ourselves with Claire Gillespie, Stacey Yates Sellar, and Essie Richards

A little advance planning goes a long way here. Each talk is free for 48 hours after it drops — Friday's talks are gone by Sunday, Saturday's by Monday, Sunday's by Tuesday.

Take a look, pick the ones that call to you, and figure out where you can squeeze them in this weekend.

at no extra cost to you. The event is free either way.

P.S. You're sure to recognize some of the speakers: Peter Gray, Pam Laricchia, Patrick Farenga, Iris Chen, and Lainie Liberti, among many others whose work I deeply respect.
I'll also be there myself — speaking Saturday about the
Role of the Unschooling Parent (and what happens when it doesn't go the way you thought it would!) and Sunday with a panel of Parents of Grown Unschoolers. And don't miss the Grown Unschoolers panel on Saturday — that one is always worth your time. But honestly? Start with the neurodiversity list. That's the part you won't find anywhere else.
