Do unschoolers really learn The Basics? HOW?

Hey Reader!

It's been a minute and I wanted to let you know I got a new podcast up!

One of the most common questions I hear from parents exploring unschooling is:

“But what about the basics — reading, writing, and math?
How will they learn those if I choose to unschool the kids?"

It’s such a valid concern. We’ve all been taught that unless kids are sitting in front of a workbook, they won’t really learn the 3Rs. But that’s simply not true.

In this week’s podcast (and the video is coming!), I’m sharing:
✨ How unschoolers learn the basics without curriculum
✨ Real-life examples of how reading, writing, and math show up naturally
✨ Why kids learn more deeply when the “basics” are connected to things that matter to them
✨ How unschooling also builds critical thinking, problem-solving, and life skills

If you’ve ever worried your child might “fall behind,” this episode will give you the reassurance you need — and show you that the basics are everywhere.

You don’t have to force it. You don’t need a curriculum.
In spite of what you might hear, unschoolers aren't IGNORING The Basics!
We've just reframed the starting place and take a different path to get there.

P.S. If you’d like even more support reframing the basics, check out my Unschooling Guides on Reading, Writing, and Math — they go deeper into real-life learning strategies for each subject.
