"I'm not mathy - so I need curriculum for it, right?"

Hey Reader, We have real hangups about math, don’t we? Before I tell you about the resources I have to help, I want you to think about this: If so many of us learned math in school and left feeling anxious or convinced we weren’t “math people,” why would we want to duplicate that experience with our kids? Schools had 12 years to help us get comfortable with math. For most of us, that didn’t happen! So here’s a more unschooly question: What math do you actually use in your adult life over a month? Think about shopping, cooking, paying bills, planning a trip, figuring out whether something will fit. That gives you a starting place. Real Life Math. Familiar things you can explore together, with reasons to use them. And yes, you may feel okay about that today. But a few tomorrows from now, someone might ask, “What are you doing for math?” That’s why it helps to get clearer about how math learning works before that conversation arrives. You could start with one blogpost a day. Give yourself a little time to explore math ideas 📚 Read: Sue's Learning Math section at the website
