Not a Math Person? This is for YOU!

Hey Reader!

Today's Tip of the Week comes from a Question:

“I love unschooling when it comes to science and art and history — even language arts! But math... grrrr. I hate it so much! I know I’m leaning away from it whenever I can. What would help me not pass on my anti-math attitude to my kids? They’re fairly neutral about it — so far.”

That’s such a common struggle!
The first step is noticing where your resistance shows up :

  • Sighing at numbers,
  • Joking (kind of) that you’re “bad at math,”
  • Skipping opportunities that feel too “schooly.”

Your kids will pick up on your energy long before they hear your words. The good news? You can rewrite that story.

And here's a quick tip: You're not as bad at it as you think!
You may not have done well at math
in school - but you're not IN SCHOOL anymore!
Every Mathematician I know has said that the school approach to math is horrible - and no wonder so many walked away with negative memories!

✔︎ You're using math when you calculate the tip for the waiter.
✔︎ You're using math when you notice the rain chances for the week.
✔︎ You're using math when you're reading a recipe.
✔︎ You're using math when you estimate time, do a little online banking, choose the right size frame for the picture, estimate the grocery bill. ✔︎ ✔︎ ✔︎

It's everywhere! And you're doing it!
