What if the teen years could be less of a struggle?

Let's do this every Tuesday!
Hey Reader!
Whether you're parenting a teen now or just peeking over the horizon, you might already feel the weight of it:
– What if my kid is pulling away, and I’m not sure what to do? – What if we’ve waited too long to make a change? – What if we're starting to feel disconnected? – How will they be okay in the future when they seem so unmotivated now?
Maybe you're already there. Maybe your teen is holed up in their room and barely speaking. Maybe last year has worn them down—or you down. And the idea of dragging them to the kitchen table for “lessons”? Ha! That would go over… not well.
But what if unschooling isn’t about dragging at all?
What if it’s about rebuilding trust, opening space, and creating a home where your teen gets to be seen—not managed?
Even in unschooling circles, support for teens can be hard to find. It feels like everyone has little kids, and you're trying to chart a path no one else is walking.
My Creating Confidence Membership is a space for parents at all stages of the unschooling journey—including those navigating the complexities of the teen years. We have quite a few families with teens and tweens, so you don't have to feel so isolated!
Inside the membership, you’ll find:
Practical help for creating a full, rich teen experience—without duplicating school
Supportive parents who get it (even the messy parts)
A space to ride the roller coaster with other parents who are navigating this unconventional path through the teen years
Resources for transcripts, college questions, emotional regulation, and more
This Week’s Transcript Question: “My teen isn't doing much right now. How would I even begin to document this?”
This is more common than you might think! Instead of rushing to “record something academic,” try this: Take a look at what they're engaging in. Make a list of things they do in a week. A TV show they binged. A conversation they got passionate about. A YouTube rabbit hole. Then LOOK for where subjects are naturally weaving into that activity. It will be tiny - but these little pieces add up.
✨ You’ll learn how to turn those breadcrumbs into transcripts in my course all about that.
💛 And because it’s new—and you’re here on my email list—use the code ForYou to get it all for $65 (regularly $99). Even if you're not near the end of the teen years, having this will decrease your stress and help you SEE the learning without sacrificing the freedom.
Unschooling during the teen years isn’t about controlling every moment. It’s about connection, flexibility, and being brave enough to trust this new version of your child—and yourself.
